Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2017 – Big Rock Urban
Dine Out Vancouver continues with a stop at Big Rock Urban Eatery. Located on 4th and Alberta. Big Rock is a prominent member of this emerging craft beer oasis. Sprinkled throughout this industrial area you will find local craft beer contributors that are pushing the boundaries as far as the brewing and dining experience goes.
Big Rock Urban Eatery has an incredible space equipped with a massive dining hall, cozy lounge, and a stage for all to see. I was very impressed with the size of the space as I’m always frustrated in the lack of seating in Vancouver. Just imagine, a place you can walk into without a reservation with a group of people and the host won’t laugh at you! What a concept, Big Rock you’re doing it right.
Time to Dine
This $20 Dine Out Menu offering was a pleasant surprise. A brewery with a full kitchen? Where am I, Portland? Kudos again Big Rock. We kicked things of with fresh and delicious Albacore Tuna Tartar and their fondue inspired Brewer’s Bagel. Pair that with two flights sampling their entire beer list and we were on our way to a great night. For the main course we had the Pulled Pork Ciabatta and the Dine Out Pizza with dried tomato, Kalamata olives, shaved asparagus, and goat cheese, served with a stout balsamic drizzle, quite delicious.
Cheers!
The place was bustling as we admired the floor-to-ceiling glass wall which gives you and insider look into their beautiful brewery. A class of future brewers were getting a tour as the dining hall was filling up with a painting work shop. Loved the energy and dynamic as everyone was having a good time. Also loved the fact that there is a full-service bar just in case you wanted a cocktail or glass of wine!
Big rock Urban Eatery is definitely pushing the boundaries of what a micro-brewery can offer. Check out this budding scene in Vancouver and make sure you pop in for Happy Hour. 3-6pm every day and 9pm-Close Sunday to Thursday for $4 beers, $6 wine, and $5 snacks!
