For one, use what you get for free\u2014that is, the sunshine. By opening draperies during the day, natural light will replace the need to turn on the switch for ceiling lights or lamps. And don\u2019t forget to turn out lights when you leave the room, or when you leave the house. If you feel safer or simply like having a light on when you go to bed, consider putting a lamp on a timer so it will switch on and off by itself and not burn throughout the night.<\/p>\n

Unplug Your Device When Not In Use<\/h2>\n

We often don\u2019t think about all the electricity used when electronics are plugged in on standby or in idle mode. One way to gain on electricity savings is to simply unplug your devices when they are not in use. This might seem like a pain to do, but you can make it easier on yourself by plugging multiple gadgets or electricity sucking devices into a power bar so you can turn them off all at once when you\u2019re leaving the house or going to bed.<\/p>\n

Heat<\/h2>\n

Heat is one of the worst culprits for high bills. Take a look around your home and try to think of areas where you can reduce the heat used and you will see savings in your electricity. For example, is the temperature in your home regulated by a timer? If you can lower the heat while you are gone for the day or at night while you sleep, you will see savings.
